Intern Insights: Onward and Upward with Relationship Management

With graduation only weeks away, I’ll soon be entering the “real world,” which brings my intership with VIPorbit to an end. It has been a wonderful experience. I’ll be taking so much with me, not only the skills I’ve developed but also the knowledge I’ve gained about how to build healthy business relationships.

I’m proud to tell people about VIPorbit, as a former employee and as a customer, too. The VIPorbit team has a true passion for relationship management and business development. I'm priviledged to have witnessed it firsthand and to have been a part of it during my internship. I’d never before worked with such passionate professionals who are so dedicated to helping their customers achieve success through relationship management.

It has been enlightening to work in the contact management industry, especially at a time in my life and career when networking and relationships are so important. Along with my experiences, I have gained so much insight as to how to carry myself professionally and maintain great personal and professional relationships. Even my online persona on social media has undergone a transformation. I have shifted the focus of my social media interactions from what I stand to gain to what I have to offer to others, making a huge difference, both in the quantity of connections and the quality of those relationships. It helps make the often less-than-personal connections initiated on LinkedIn and Twitter feel more personal.

People really can tell when someone is only interested in promoting themselves and when they are interested in fostering a mutually beneficial relationship. And it makes a huge difference! That's just one of the many relationship management lessons I'll be taking with me.
